Let's be honest. You open a chess book or fire up a YouTube video, nod along at the brilliant moves, feel smart for 40 minutes, and then get crushed by a 1400 who played 1.b3. Sound familiar? The issue isn't your effort — it's your method. Passive consumption feels like learning but produces almost nothing measurable.

With the FIDE World Cup cycle gearing up and the elite grinding thousands of hours of preparation, it's a good moment to steal a page from how professionals actually train. Spoiler: they don't just watch games. They wrestle with positions.
